Post details: Coldplay settles Joe Satriani lawsuit, case dismissed

This article leads me to believe they settled out of court:
Guitarist Joe Satriani's lawsuit against Coldplay, based on his accusation that Chris Marin and co plagiarised his 2004 song 'If I Could Fly' for their 2008 single 'Viva La Vida', has been dismissed from court.
Satriani sued the band last December, seeking a jury trial to award him monetary compensation.
Now, according to News.justia.com, the case was dismissed yesterday (September 14) in California Central District Court "upon stipulation", suggesting that an out-of-court settlement may have been reached.
I remember watching Coldplay on 60 Minutes and wondering how he could plagiarise the tune (if indeed he did) and be so shocked and blunt and frank about not stealing it. Of course, anyone who did, would deny it - but he seemed so genuine and surprised at the accusation... it didn't all add up to me. I'm not sure I'm convinced that he did or didn't grab the material --- but if he did, I hope that Satriani gets his due --- and if Coldplay didn't grab it, I hope that they are cleared of all wrong doing by the music industry and by Satriani, publicly.
