Post details: Browns to start Anderson at QB

Sep 30 '09

In an organization in which I doubt Tom Brady or Drew Brees could succeed, the Cleveland Browns have opted to go with Anderson as the starting QB this weekend against the Bengals.

Coach Eric Mangini has decided to go with Anderson, a Pro Bowler in 2007, over Brady Quinn, who opened the season as Cleveland's starter but was benched at halftime last Sunday in Baltimore.

Smart move, considering in just 1 half of playing time, Anderson threw 3 interceptions. Oh Cleveland, you are making it harder every day to continue to root for you. The Browns problems go way beyond the play of the QB. Cleveland does not have a solid wide receiver, and the offensive line is one of the worst in the NFL. The running game averages 71.3 yards per game, yet the deciding factor of win vs. loss boils down to QB play? Try drafting some talent in the skill positions, like WR and RB, and trading for guys on the offensive line who can actually block. The defense ranks 30th out of 32 teams, so the that isn't helping the offense either. Next try to find a coach that the players want to play for, instead of filing grievances with the NFL players association. Mangini is a bad fit for this ball club.
