It feels awfully good to post a college football story --- especially one about one of my favorite teams picking up an amazing athlete, who is sure to bolster the team's offense in the future:
Bryce Brown, the No. 8 prospect in the ESPNU150, will play his college football at Tennessee. Brown picked the Vols over a list of finalists that included Oregon, LSU, Kansas State and Miami.
Brown's decision ends a months-long saga that began picking up steam when the talented running back from Wichita, Kan., opted not to make a decision on national signing day.
The Vols became a player for Brown late in the game. He visited Knoxville unofficially last week and did the official visit with Lane Kiffin and the Vols this weekend, when Tennessee held its first scrimmage of the spring practice.
The addition of Brown boosts a Tennessee class that was ranked 15th after signing day but has since added Brown and versatile running back David Oku, who is the 13th-ranked running back in the 2009 class.
Can't wait to see where Brown fits in the game plan. Go Vols.
We mentioned this in a post back in January, and 97bottles.com has finally launched.
We love beer. And we love our friends. We also love drinking and talking about beer with our friends. We created 97bottles.com because we know that:
friends + beer = good time.
97bottles is a free service that the good folks at Blue Flavor made. It lets you add, review, and learn new stuff about thousands of types of beers. Whether you're a microbrew or ultra light kind of person, we think 97bottles will increase your IQ and make you happier.
Go check it out.
Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen and wife Brooke Mueller Sheen welcomed twin boys Saturday night. The children, named Max and Bob, are the first for the couple, who married in May 2008.
"They're doing great," Sheen's publicist Stan Rosenfield tells PEOPLE of the babies, who weren't due for another few weeks. "And Brooke's doing great."
Congrats to the couple. It's nice to see more conventional names like Max and Bob. Most celebrities nowadays pick some strange names (Camera, Sailor Lee, Fifi, Banjo, Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily, Moon Unit and Diva Muffin - just to name a few)
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth hit and killed a pedestrian with his Bentley on Saturday morning on a busy causeway linking Miami and Miami Beach, police said.
Stallworth was headed toward the beach when he hit Mario Reyes, 59, around 7 a.m., said Miami Beach police spokesman Juan Sanchez. Reyes was taken to a nearby trauma center, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later. He was near a crosswalk but it's not clear if he was crossing legally.
Stallworth, 28, was cooperating and no charges have been filed, Sanchez said. Officers drew blood to test for drugs or alcohol, which is routine. Sanchez said results from the test could take anywhere from three days to three weeks.
What a tragic turn of events.
