I hadn't heard anything about this before now --- can anyone confirm this move ? |
Aside from sporting that oh-so-portable USB stick design, this rendition touts a dedicated antenna port as well as a video input dongle to record your latest camcorder captures without a separate piece of hardware. The dongle supports stereo audio and composite / S-Video, but it's still not clear whether this all comes together as a nice, neat package, nor how much these niceties will set you back.
Still, an awesome improvement and the perfect way to add TV functionality to your existing computing setup.
After posting about sleds last week, I had to add another batch of super fast and cool sleds to the site. Check out these models from VW courtesy of Gizmodo.

UNC vs. OSU
The North Carolina Tar Heels take on the Ohio State Buckeyes tonight in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge. Thus far, the ACC is winning the series 4-2, and has never lost an overall challenge to the Big 10. Let's hope this year is no different. The Tar Heels and Buckeyes easily have the top two recruiting classes in the nation. OSU big man, Greg Oden, will be sidelined recovering from a wrist injury from over the summer. This may give UNC more of an edge, but this Tar Heel fan says let Oden suit up and we'll take it right at him. Hansbrough and Wright, attack! Oh, watch out for UNC dumping the ball inside then sending it back out for the three as OSU tries to contain the Heels relentless big men. There is no stopping this more talented team. GO HEELS!
I know there are a few knife-enthusiasts reading out there, so I posted this for you guys. Uncrate posted this neat knife this morning - a very simple, sleek, no-nonsense, survival knife. And it looks awesome. Too good to be true ? - check it out here.
From Liquid Rubber To Sweet Love in Mere Seconds
A German firm has developed a spray-on condom for all your lifestyle needs. The liquid condom comes in an aerosol can - just spray it on and a few seconds later, the liquid solidifies into the familiar latex and forms a tight seal.
Should someone tell him ?

Seems he might have a thing or two to learn from this young lady

Just what the title says -
Morgan, 38, was pulled over early Tuesday morning after allegedly "weaving back and forth, into the right and left lanes" while driving on the Henry Hudson Parkway, Edison Alban, a spokesman for the Manhattan District Attorney's office reports.
Soccer legend, Mia Hamm, and Los Angeles Dodger, Nomar Garciaparra, are expecting their first child in early spring.
Hamm, 34, played on the U.S. women's national soccer team for 18 years. When she retired after the 2004 Athens Olympics, she had scored 158 international goals, an unmatched record.
Neat video of a flaming tennis ball flinger... a similar weapon to our very own Tennis Ball Mortar, codename Blue Canary, which we scrapped back in May.
Matt Lauer and wife welcomed the couples third child this morning; a baby boy named Thijs. Read on here.
The TV Land cable network has compiled a list of the 100 greatest catchphrases in TV. The greatest number of moments, 26, come from the 1970s. TV Land identified nine moments from this decade. Ten are from commercials, and 28 from comedies, including six from "Saturday Night Live."
Some of them I have never heard, some are quite famous, and some made me laugh just remembering the "skit." Take a look at the list here.
This Saturday, tours begin of the house from "Christmas Story". Brian Jones has restored the house just like it was presented in the movie - neat.

Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock are calling it quits...
I'm glad the OSU vs. Michigan hoopla is over!!! However, I found this humorous video today and thought you too would appreciate both her level of inebriation, and the reporters reaction on live television. Check it out here
Triple Tri Travel Map
Our newest feature: a map marking locations/landmarks to which we've traveled. Click on a red or green marker for more info on the location. Google provided an awesome tool for creating the map which allows for all the zooming, panning and dragging you're used to seeing.
The link to the map appears at the top of the left column in green. Or, you can see the map by clicking right here.
(If I've forgotten any locations, please let me know.)
A video of the many faces of Michael Jackson. A double dose - interesting and creepy.
A bad week to be a college football coach..
Update: Found this list of coaching changes.
Earlier in the season, it was Bunting at UNC, then on Friday, Coker got the boot from Miami (FL). The latest round of slashing leaves two other predominant coaches wounded... Chuck Amato, coach at NC State was let go on Saturday, and Mike Shula, coach at Alabama was let go Sunday.
Maybe every coach who lost a game this season should find a rock to hide under for the next few weeks. Seems if you can't win every game, you're subject to slaughter. I wonder how many of the athletic directors and administrative bodies that are making these decisions have ever coached football ? I wonder if any of them know what it takes to create a good football team ? It seems they're awfully quick to judge and even quicker with the axe.
Courtesy of Boston College and Clemson. Matt Ryan takes a real shot in this video... crazy.

Appalachian State beat Coastal Carolina 45-28 today to clinch a spot in next Saturday’s national quarterfinals at Kidd Brewer Stadium.
No. 1 Appalachian State University racked up 356 yards of offense in the first half alone -- 179 of them on the ground
Quarterback Armanti Edwards ran for 172 yards, Walter Payton Award finalist Kevin Richardson added 156 on the ground and the duo combined to account for all six Mountaineer touchdowns to lead the Apps to 45 points on 560 yards of total offense, both school playoff records.
Congrats to ASU - keep the wins coming ! Good luck in the next round - we'll all be cheering for you.

Brad Brad Brad....
(Shaking head)... One of our favorite former Tarheel and Cavs player is not satisifed with part ownership of a local Ford dealer. Instead he now is slated for a new gig doing this.
Nov 24 '06
Good Luck Mountaineers
Good luck to the App. State Mountaineers as they take on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers tomorrow. Chanticleers ? Thats what we said... read about it here.
We thought it might happen - and it has. On the tail of a .500 season, the University of Miami fired head coach Larry Coker today.
Coker had a 59-15 record, a winning percentage of nearly 80 percent, and won a national championship in 2001 and played for another title the following season.
Not sure if this is a good move for the Hurricanes... but a new coach could mean a world of change for the Canes and not all of it is guaranteed to be in a positive direction.

ASU to host Coastal Carolina
Appalachian State University is the top-seeded team in the 2006 NCAA Division I Football Championship and will host Coastal Carolina in the first round of the 16-team playoffs on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The matchup will be televised live nationally from Kidd Brewer Stadium on ESPNU.
Check out the rest of that article here.
Since ASU is the number 1 seed, we have the homefield advantage. Good luck to ASU! Go for two!!
Some cool shots of the trucks plus some links to other sites with more info (non-English)
For those of you wondering about Dekotora - click right here.
This thing would be a serious pain to install... but how cool would it be ?
Did he just say what I thought he said ? Yep.... he did. Kamau Kambon is a former professor at NCSU.
It says in the article, that the team changed from a Chevy Suburban last year to this year's Lotus. for increased cornering capability. I'm not trying to burst their bubble, and Lotuses... er, Loti (?)... um, Lotus cars, are super cool - but wouldn't just about any compact car corner better than a suburban ?

It's only snowing a little here today, but it still made me think of the winter sports. So I went looking for sleds on the web... and I found some really neat ones.
Check out Mad River Rocket, home of some of the fastest sleds you can buy. Neat stuff.

We're back.
Finally got around to posting some pictures... this isn't all of them, but it's a start. Click here to see them.
The "TT" is back from our travels to Texas. We had a great time in the Lone Star State but of course, our time there was too short. We'll post some pictures from our trip on the image gallery when we get a chance - so check back for those updates.
UNCG in NCAA Men Soccer Championship
UNCG is now in the 3rd Round of the Championship and will take on Northwestern on Sunday, November 19th. Check out the bracket here.
For the second consecutive year, UNC Greensboro and Virginia Tech will square off in the NCAA Tournament as the teams have been matched up in the opening round of the 2006 edition of the tournament.
Chad Dickerson, Mooresville alum, and friend of ours, plays goalkeeper for the Spartans. Best of luck to Chad and the guys in the tourny. More info after the jump.

Just saw this on the web. As much as i don't like Michigan, I feel for them.

I'm not sure any amount of practice would allow me to do these tricks - but they are amazing, none the less.
Dashboard and Brand New
Amanda and I drove to Winston-Salem last night to see Brand New and Dashboard Confessional. We got there a little too late and only heard one song from Brand New. Dashboard was awesome and we got this poster for the apartment. I couldn't take my camera in, so I didn't get any pictures, but it was still a ton of fun. (JP, check out the Brand New website. They have a myspace too, but the site could use some work.)
Cool video of a liquid that behaves like a solid. I'm thinking we should try this in Ashlin's pool - any takers ?

More News from Cordless
Cordless played a big show this past Sunday, while the Triple Tri was crusing around Texas. Cordless supported the german band Silbermond at their concert in Mainz, Germany.
Silbermond is currently No. 1 in Germany. They sold more than 1.000.000 Million albums and were nominated for the Ema's this year!
Check out this article written about Cordless in a local newspaper (in german)
Good stuff guys - We're pround of you, keep the good stuff comin'.
Drumming Vid
Here is a video of me playing drums and working on a track for Missing Daybreak:
A bunch of unusual and rare coins. My favorite is "SAILBOAT ON RECTANGULAR SILVER TONGAN COIN" - neat stuff.
Had to post this for Mark. "The Orion Project" will fit nicely.
Will this fix the problem ? I'm not so sure. Will another Bowden fill the void ? We'll see.
Signing Testaverde to help solve the snag that the Pats are experiencing... not a good idea. At all.
Ellen Pompeo Engaged
Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith Grey on "Grey's Anatomy," and her boyfriend Chris Ivery are engaged. He asked her on her 37th birthday (I had no idea she was that old!). I hope this celebrity couple can make it. Check out the story and a picture here.

My favorite is #7 Stanley Jobson from Swordfish. Funny... I don't see Max McCoy anywhere on this list...
I've never heard of this happening before, but if I thought it would work, I would have proposed it in high school.

Our first game in the playoffs is November 25th.

Weekend in Texas
The entire Triple Tri will be on hiatus this weekend in Texas, so things will be a little slow around here. I have a few things scheduled to pop up over the weekend but mostly it'll be quiet until we're back in the saddle next week. Hope everyone has a good Veteran's Day weekend.

Mythbusters Bloopers
Found this on MetaFilter.com - Like many of our readers, I'm a fan of the show so it was cool to see this video.
That's right, a woman in South Dakota died nearly two months ago and still won the county commissioner's race. The best part is that the voters knew she had died, and still voted for her. I guess they just didn't want the Republican. Read here.

Faith Hill is bitter and let it show on ABC last night during the Country Music Awards. After losing female vocalist of the year, Hill is seen screaming "WHAT?" while the other losers graciously smile.
Britney Spears has filed for divorce from K Fed. I repeat, the K Fed days are over. Spears cited irreconcilable differences which is a huge understatement. Everyone knew this would happen sooner or later.
Christopher Walken has agreed to play the ultimate bad-boy rocker — Ozzy Osbourne.. Motley Crue lead singer Vince Neil told ABC News Radio in an exclusive interview that the 63-year-old Oscar-winning actor will make a cameo appearance as Osbourne in "The Dirt," a movie based on the band's controversial 2001 autobiography. "How funny is that going to be," Neil told ABC's Al Mancini at the Opening of Vince Neil Ink, the singer's new tattoo parlor in Las Vegas.
Magic Johnson
On this day in 1991, basketball legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson stunned the world by announcing his sudden retirement from the Los Angeles Lakers, after testing positive for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. At the time, many Americans viewed AIDS as a gay white man's disease. Johnson (1959- ), who is African American and heterosexual, was one of the first sports stars to go public about his HIV-positive status.
This site is worth checking out for the pictures alone. This lady hand feeds hummingbirds and her husband takes pictures. I'm not sure how she acclimated the birds to such an act but it's neat to see.

Guy Fawkes Day
Remember, remember the fifth of November,
The gunpowder, treason and plot,
I know of no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
"Remember, remember" ? Well, I didn't. Missed it by one day - but I'd like to wish everyone a happy Guy Fawkes day.
Following a loss to LSU on Saturday, Tennessee starting running back Arian Foster and two other players (safety Antonio Wardlow and fullback David Holbert) were arrested early Sunday after police were called to a fight at a nightclub. They were charged with disorderly conduct and underage consumption, police said. Wardlow also was charged with public intoxication. All three players are 20. As of Sunday night, Fulmer hadn't spoken to the players and handed out the proper discipline. Not a good way to celebrate the loss guys. Hopefully the team can get past this quickly and still keep winning to go to a good bowl game.
NHS Marching Band at OMEA State Finals
Congrats to the Pride on their SUPERIOR rating at State Finals. The band received superior ratings in each of the possible captions (7). Thanks to the drumline for all the work and practice, hope you're as proud as we are of what you've achieved.
For the 27th consecutive year the Pride of Newark will be performing in the OMEA State Finals. In the large school division (class AA) only the Pride and Grove City have been in every State Finals since they were first held in 1980. The Pride earned a return trip with SUPERIOR rated performances at the River View,Nelsonville, and Newark contests.
The Pride will be performing on November 5th at 7:30 PM at the University of Dayton. Congratulations for qualifying and good luck at finals.

Speed test your connection
Found this cool website to check your connection speed. Good GUI and intuitive controls - a better way to find out where you stand.
Starting today, Cingular is shutting off TDMA cellphone service in Toledo.
TDMA is an older system of carrying cellphone signals. Most countries, except the US, use GSM. TDMA phones will not work the new GSM network Cingular is pushing.
After November 13th, however, Cingular will shut off TDMA phone service for Toledo completely. Undoubtedly, Toledo's shutoff will prove a testing ground for other cities.
Saddam Hussein was convicted Sunday and sentenced to hang for crimes against humanity in the 1982 killings of 148 people in a single Shiite town. The ousted leader, trembling and defiant, shouted "God is great!" as the judge handed down the verdict.
An interesting article full of updates. First they did, then they didn't, then they're close to hiring, then they're closer, then they're not so close. I'm not sure how accurate this is - but several sites in the Tar Heel network are giving similar indications.. looks like Davis will take the helm of UNC football. Good Luck.

Not sure exactly how I feel about this. It is a Honda however, so it gets the official T.O.P. stamp. I'm sure I could be persuaded into driving one around ![]()
What more can I say ? I'm still laughing.
Haven't we seen Kanye go hay-wire on air before?

Jeopardy!
I must have jinxed Chris by posting about him today. He lost, but not by much. He still did a great job! Congrats to Chris!
I actually know someone on Jeopardy!...sort of. The Teaching Fellows Secretary, Joy Osbourne, has a son-in-law on Jeopardy! His name is Chris Mazurek and he's won four nights now. Make sure you cheer for him!
Very interesting article on ESPN about the coaches at the University of Tennessee. Everyone knows that coaches go above and beyond the call of duty for their programs, but this really brings it to light. Go Vols!
UNC womens basketball was picked preseason #2 behind defending nat'l champions Maryland. Looks like basketball at North Carolina is going to be pretty good, yet again. Both teams, mens and womens, are picked #2 behind the defending nat'l champions. That's just to respect the previous champ. UNC takes home championships for both teams this year. GO HEELS!!
That title probably caught your attention like it did mine. It's true. A woman had recently lost her husband and decided to make arrangements for her own funeral. I'm sure she didn't expect it to be this soon. Although, she did have several details about her own funeral in a bag with her at the time.
The 65-year-old widow probably died of a heart attack while she was visiting the family grave where her name, but no date, was already inscribed. The woman was carrying a bag with her containing her will when she died and had already organized details of her funeral including the music she wanted played.
Creepy. Read the article here.
I know that their season hasn't been great, but i honestly don't think it's his fault. They lost a heartbreaker to Notre Dame, and then went down hill from there. I think it's the players, not the head coach!
Although Flavor Flav selected contestant Deelishis (real name: London Charles) as the winner of his heart on the Oct. 15 second-season finale of his VH1 show Flavor of Love, he is expecting a child – his seventh – with another woman, his manager confirms to PEOPLE.
