Lotus Evora S

Based on the company's standard Evora, the new Lotus Evora S ($TBA) ups the ante with a mid-mounted, 345 hp 3.5L Toyota-sourced V6, a zero to 60 time of just 4.8 seconds, a top speed of 172 mph, a sport button that gives the driver more control over the throttle response, a higher rev limiter, modifies the stability control settings, and activates an exhaust bypass valve, 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels, Eibach springs, Blistein dampers, a forged aluminum double-wishbone suspension, and an Alpine-branded media system with a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, and video playback. Notably missing is a price, which is probably somewhere between "a lot" and "more than a lot."

I'm partial to the Lotus to begin with, so this beauty is a-ok in my book. Another great car brought to our attention by the guys at Uncrate.com.

2010 College Pick 'em: Reminder

With just a few days left until the season kicks off, if you're planning to play pick 'em with us (and you should be) you'd better sign up. See previous post.

If you've already signed up, but haven't picked, let this be your reminder to go make your selections now. Or better yet, don't - and give me a week's spot on points. I'm fine with it either way.

We took to the hills of Wales armed to the teeth with sheep, LEDs and a camera, to create a huge amazing LED display. Of sorts.

Awesome video of what is capable with some sheep and LEDs. Good video and some good fun. Check it out.

Every year, twins from all over the country gather in Twinsburg, Ohio to celebrate what sets them apart from those born by themselves. National Geographic was there earlier this month to document the festivities, in text and in five photo galleries, plus a memory game where you try to match sets of twins who attended the festival.

I'd originally heard about this from MDH and VAH but it was cool to see it make it into Nat Geo.

The chestnut tree outside Anne Frank's attic window was a source of hope and comfort to her whilst in hiding from the Nazis during World War 2. She often mentioned it in her poignant diaries: "The two of us looked out at the blue sky, the bare chestnut tree glistening with dew...and we were so moved and entranced that we couldn't speak."

Slowing dying over the last few years, the tree was destroyed in high winds on Monday. The tree had been afflicted with fungus and moths. However it had been expected to live another decade or so. It is not clear why the support structure which encased it did not work. No buildings around the densely packed urban area were harmed.

For more info, check out the source article.
