I know you're listening...

Hope everyone had a relaxing holiday break and made some time to put their feet up for a bit. We're all back at it now so expect the usual torrent of interesting posts from the Tri to start up over the next few days and flood your 2009 with nearly more cool stuff than you can stand.

Northern State men's basketball coach Don Meyer made history Saturday night when his team defeated Upper Iowa, 63-58, in Fayette, Iowa.
Meyer tied Bob Knight for the most coaching victories in NCAA men's basketball history with 902. Meyer and Knight are the only two coaches in NCAA men's basketball history to reach the 900-win plateau.
Pretty amazing accomplishment in any Division. Congrats to Meyer and Northern State.

The 16-year-old son [Jett] of actors John Travolta and Kelly Preston died Friday morning after suffering a seizure while vacationing with his family in the Bahamas, Travolta's attorney told CNN.
They do not know the exact cause of death; an autopsy will be conducted Monday.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Happy New Year
The Triple Tri had a great 2008, and wish you and yours an even better 2009! Stay safe out there tonight, and GO HEELS!

New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo has won The Associated Press 2008 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
Mayo was a nearly unanimous choice, earning 49 of 50 votes Wednesday from a nationwide panel of sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league. He was the outstanding performer on a linebacking corps that often struggled during New England's 11-5 season, leading the team with 128 tackles.
Mayo's versatility, highlighted by quickness and a physical style, made him stand out even though the Patriots didn't make the playoffs.
The only other defensive rookie to get a vote was Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Keith Rivers.
Mayo spent his college days ruffing guys up in Knoxville as a Volunteer.

Browns owner Randy Lerner made his second major move of the offseason Monday by firing coach Romeo Crennel, who lost 40 games in four seasons, never made the playoffs and went 0-8 against Pittsburgh, the only full-time Cleveland coach to go winless against the archrival Steelers.
Everyone saw this coming. Hopefully we can move onto bigger and better things. There's always next year!

The entire Triple Tri is viewing a live sporting event today. 2/3 will be in Chapel Hill watching the Tar Heels basketball team smash Rutgers tonight at 7:45 while 1/3 of the Tri will be in Pittsburgh watching the Browns take on the Steelers. Safe travels everyone and enjoy your game. Hopefully when its all said and done, the Heels and Browns will be victorious!

More psychobabble about how once something is released online- it is as good as gone (text, photos, videos, etc).
The National Law Journal just did a "BEWARE OF YOUR TWEET" article here that doesnt really share any light on the assessment and agressive pursuit of the liabilities of the technology.
Just thought it was cool to see Twitter somewhere different instead of the myspace/facebook warnings.

Former Toledo Rocket great, Bruce Gradkowski was picked up by the Browns a few weeks back (as JPH recently posted). Sunday, the Browns final game of a disappointing season, Gradkowski will be the starting QB. We're extremely proud and excited for Bruce, having half the Tri attend school at Toledo while Bruce dominated the MAC, setting school record after school record.
Go Bruce!! Go Browns!!
Merry Christmas from the Triple Tri
As our thoughts move away from news and sports this week and toward our family and friends, I want to take a moment to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas. I know I speak for Ashlin, Maggie, Vickie, Mark and Eric when I say that our best wishes are with all of you and your families this holiday season.

Things will be fairly quiet around here till a few days into the new year - there will be some occasional posts, but not the usual rich flowing torrent of news and sports you've come to expect from the Triple Tri. We are going spend some time with our families, travel a bit, and recharge the batteries.
Have a great holiday and we'll catch up with you next in the New Year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Triple Tri.

His future with Cleveland in doubt and players reportedly fighting, coach Romeo Crennel still believes he can turn the Browns back into winners. The team dropped its fifth straight game Sunday, 14-0 to Cincinnati. The Browns failed to score an offensive touchdown for the fifth straight game to finish 1-7 at home, one season after going 7-1 and winning 10 games. Owner Randy Lerner plans to review Crennel's job status following the season and Crennel feels he can make a strong case to come back for a fifth season. Crennel is 24-39.
As a Browns fan, I thought we saw a big change last season. This was THE YEAR that the Browns would make the playoffs, and even be, dare I say, Superbowl contenders. I'm not sure Crennel has what it takes to turn around a Cleveland team. He was a great Defensive Coordinator with New England, and he might be a great Head Coach; somewhere other than Cleveland. Great coaches have come into Cleveland, and left with losing records. It seems to be a Cleveland curse. The consensus in Cleveland (at least at the one Browns game I went to - thanks MDH and Vickie!) was that Bill Cowher should be the next coach to take the problems reigns in Cleveland. Browns fans nationwide, what do you think? Can Crennel turn it around if given one more season? Should Browns owner, Randy Lerner, cut him loose at the end of this season and go after Bill Cowher? Or should an unmentioned coach come in to Cleveland?
